Pre-K and Kindergarten Information & 1st -8th Grade Information

PRE-KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION
Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten children should be able to communicate to the caregiver when needing to use the restroom with ample time to make it without incident. They should be able to attend to their personal hygiene needs with little or no assistance. When accidents happened, we will help them get cleaned up, providing we have the necessary clothes to change them into.

Parents will need to send:

    (1) A change of clothes (including underwear, tennis shoes and socks) marked with your child’s name on each piece.

    (2) A crib sheet, blanket and/or a stuffed animal. (Please send only one small stuffed animal.)

    (3) Lunch - a sack lunch and a drink should be sent if you have not purchased a lunch or milk card for your child.

Everyday after lunch and recess your child will have a rest period. A mat will be provided, however these mats are plastic and do get very hot while they sleep. We ask you to provide a crib sheet, with your child’s name on it, to cover the mat. A special blanket or a cuddly toy can be brought to help make nap time easier. To keep the children’s backpacks from being so heavy, these items can be stored during the week in their own cubby, providing they are not too large. Each Friday, all items will be sent home for laundry.

Don’t forget to LABEL EVERYTHING. Please do not send something that cannot be replaced if lost or misplaced.

CLOTHING

During their time in Extended Care the children will be required to wear their school uniforms.

Each child in our PK program will need to keep an extra set of clothing (including underwear, socks and tennis shoes) in their back pack at all times. In case of an accident, we will change your child, rinse out any soiled clothing and send it home in a plastic bag for you to wash. For those children who do not have an extra change of clothes when an accident arises, we will be glad to provide one at an additional cost. This will appear on an invoice at the end of the month.

Below is the price for items we will be charging:

Underwear (panties or briefs) - $1.50 each Socks - $1.50 per pair School uniform shorts - $5.00 each School uniform shirts - $5.00 each School uniform jumper - $15.00

Please keep in mind that the temperature changes with the seasons, so these extra clothes, including a light jacket or sweater, need to be included. Remember to replace a new set when one has been used or as the child size changes.

Be sure to LABEL EVERYTHING clearly with your child’s name. With school uniforms, it is very difficult to know what belongs to whom.

NAP TIME
Nap time or rest time is from 1:30 P.M. - 2:30 P.M. everyday. We ask that children do not arrive or depart during this time if at all possible. Children will be provided with plastic mats to use. Parents need to furnish a crib sheet with the child’s name clearly marked. A small blanket or stuffed toy is optional. All items must be labeled with the child’s name. Every child will have their own cubby to store these items during the week. The cubby is small, so please select items accordingly. Every Friday all items in their cubbies will be sent home for washing. Realizing that children do have varying sleeping needs and patterns, soft music is played during this time to help the children relax and each child is given books to look at while resting on their mat. This is especially helpful to pass the time for those who don’t sleep.
TOYS FROM HOME
We understand that children need some special items from home, (a stuffed animal, a special blanket, etc.),that will help them feel more comfortable and secure in their new surrounding. If your child has a special blanket or toy he/she sleeps with every night at home and can’t go to sleep without it, please try to have him/her chose a new one for extended care. These items may be brought to school and kept in their cubby for use during naptime. Please do not bring items that can’t be replaced. However, other toys should be left at home because we can not be responsible for them.
